I’ll write every day, I’ll try, honey. I can’t wait to read a letter from you, to have a piece of you with me. So, write as soon as you can. I love you and miss you so much.

Love you always,

Will

The Assignment:

My Writing Professor instructed us to take our fina product fromt eh Repurposing Project and put it into a new media. The goal was to, again, rework something we had created previously with new purposes in mind.

Remediating Idea:

For my Remediating Project, I decided to work with Adobe Photoshop to create a book jacket for the piece that I wrote for the earlier project. I wanted to hone my editing skills a bit and do a little design work, which I have always enjoyed. I wanted a product that was unique. My audience was the person walking into a bookstore. A book cover has to be interesting enough to draw someone in, make them pick up the book and read the description. I know that I am guilty of judging a book by its cover, so I chose to take on the challenge of creating a visually appealing product. I also reformatted the chapters I wrote for the previous product to show what the pages would look like once the book was published.

Production:

The cover is, in fact, an envelope from one of the letters that my nana sent to my Papa in Vietnam. I took the risk of writing the title sideways, which may seem strange to readers who are so used to titles at the top of book covers. I made this choice to make the cover unique and to represent the writing that would have been on the outside of the letter. The font was chosen for the same reason as was the placement of the author's name.

Final Product:
